A group of Upper Arlington residents calling themselves ‘Citizens for Change in Arlington’ held a meeting Saturday to discuss Issue 4, the Upper Arlington Public Library's bond issue that will appear on the May 5 ballot.

The group is urging Upper Arlington residents to vote "no" on the issue that would pay for $25 million in renovations and two expansions at both the main branch on Tremont Road as well as the Lane Road branch.

According to ‘Citizens for Change’ organizer, Dan McCormick, the group is not against the library but feels the bond issue is asking too much of city residents.  “We’ve all been very generous with the library over the years,” McCormick said. “I think we’ve got folks out there who are saying, ‘enough is enough.’”

UA library leaders say that the 30-year .99 mill tax is a small price to pay for one of the best library systems in the nation.
