Franklin County Board of Elections

UA voters listened, understood, and responded intelligently.
Note the relatively large (more than 40%) turnout. 
The Board of Elections was expecting only 10%.

Position Statement

Since 2001, UA residents' tax burden for the library
has more than tripled
from $996,000 to $3,100,000. 
Issue 4 will result in a $4,700,000 annual tax burden, nearly 5 times the 2001 figure.

According to library officials, needed repairs are estimated to cost $3-4 million.  
In 2008, the library ran a $440,000 surplus,
bringing its end of year on-hand balance to over $3 million.  
Needed repairs could certainly be done using existing and budgeted funds. 

Citizens for Change in UA, a collaboration of residents advocating fiscal responsibility, 
has documented that this increase is based on wants and not needs, and
encourage UA residents to vote "NO" on Issue 4.

Enough is enough.
